One of the most challenging tasks working parents face is finding high quality, affordable child care. To make this process easier, Kaiser Permanente provides a child care resource and referral service for our employees and physicians that is sponsored through the Employee Assistance Program.*
Contact your local Childcare Coordinator: 626-405-4622
Here’s the process:
Contact a Childcare Coordinator and be prepared to supply the following information:
- The age(s) of your child(ren).
- How much child care you need?
- The preferred child care setting (family day care, center-based programs, care in your own home, before/after school care, etc.).
- What personal/family/religious values you want incorporated in the child care program?
- Location (near your job, your spouse's job, your home, or some other location).
- What you can afford to pay?
- Ask about information on child care resources, differences in child care settings, philosophies, state licensing, accreditation standards, financial assistance and community services. Information is also available on programs and services for special needs children, state and federal programs for low income families and care for mildly ill children.
- Once you've determined your child care needs and preferences, the Coordinator will prepare a personalized referral packet for you. This packet will contain information on available child care options and pamphlets or handouts to help you evaluate these options.
- As you begin to consider various child care options, the Coordinator will be happy to answer any questions you may have and will make suggestions on how to evaluate providers and programs. Suggestions are also provided to monitor the quality of care.
